Principal's Message and Morning Announcements
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. I know that I speak for the entire faculty and staff when I tell you how fortunate we feel to work in this community and to be able to work with great students! I am excited to let you know that we have hired some amazing teachers this year, and I look forward to introducing them to you. It is going to be a good year!
As I welcome you back to school, I want to begin by emphasizing the mission of Midway Elementary. Our mission is to cause high levels of learning in ALL students. This is something that our faculty is passionate about. We became public educators because we believe in the power of education and the difference it can make in both society and in the lives of individuals. Our teachers have worked hard to create a positive culture that emphasizes both a love for school and academic achievement. We believe a school that does both of those things maximizes the chances of each child being successful in school in life.
As we begin this school year, we understand that we have newly added responsibilities. We are living in a unique time. Never before have we experienced school closures like those that happened earlier this year. In order to realize our mission and to do right by our students, it is imperative that we do our best to keep kids safe and healthy. If we can do so, we can keep our schools open, and we can give our kids a positive school experience. To that end, we have consulted with the District, our School Nurse, and the County Health Department to create a school plan that meets our Governor’s requirements and prioritizes the health of our students. We hope that we can all see ourselves on the same team as we work to keep kids safe and schools open in order to meet the needs of each of our valued students.
I would like to invite you to join our faculty in choosing to be optimistic about this school year. I believe that we can work together to help keep kids safe. I believe that we can help students learn and enjoy school. Our students are doing things that no generation has ever had to do, and they are doing a good job. Our future is bright because of the kids that we are raising. I look forward to working with you to help our kids have a great year this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
