Richard Goates called the meeting order and welcomed them.
Minutes from September 27, 2016 meeting were provided to members prior to the meeting. Richard asked if there were any corrections and additions to minutes. Laura Blodgett made the motion to accept the minutes; Jason Long seconded the motion with all members present voting yes.
Appointment of new member
Richard asked for a motion to approve the appointment of Summer Anderson as a parent representative on the council. Alison Lowe motioned to approve and Laura Blodgett seconded the motion with all members present voting in favor.
Approval of School Land Trust Plan Final Report 2015-16
DeAnna Lloyd went over the compliance question section of the report with the council members. Members discussed the final report in depth. Richard asked for a motion to approve the Final Report. Laura Blodgett motioned to approve and Lorie Gines seconded the motion. All present voted in favor.
Approval of Summary to Parents
DeAnna explained that as part of the School Land Trust, parents must be notified of specific information by October 20th. She provided an information sheet for the council’s approval. If approved, it will be sent home with students. After review, Allison Lowe motioned to approve and Serena Hayes seconded the motion. All members present voted yes.
DeAnna provided the school data showing areas where the school needs improvement. She explained that NWEA shows growth but we did not reach goals. Members voiced concerns regarding dual languages, literacy interventions, homework and resources for special needs students. The council would like to find specific ways to focus their resources to ensure the students meet their goals and feel successful.

Because time was short, this item was moved to the next meeting.
Alison Lowe was concerned about the traffic speeds on 730 south. She asked if it would be possible to have the speed limit sign at the train tracks moved closer to the four-way stop. The sign is not visible to parents approaching our school from the east, north or south which is the directions most of our traffic comes.
Richard Goates adjourned the meeting and reminded members of the next meeting that will be held on November 30th.
