    Over the last two weeks, Wasatch County Health Department was able to vaccinate nearly 700 of our staff and counting! Staff who expressed interest were offered the Moderna vaccine as part of Governor Cox’s resolve to protect our heroic teachers and support staff, who have continued to work in-person with our children during this pandemic.     As we head into our Christmas Break, we wanted to remind everyone today was the final day of school before the Christmas Break, and students will return on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, as Jan. 4 & 5 are Professional Development days, which are workdays for staff, but there is no school for students. The District is grateful to our parents for supporting these essential workdays for teachers and staff, as they provide additional time to prepare for the second semester/third quarter, which begins on Jan. 6.     Along with this week's numbers, we wanted to share a reminder that there will be a teacher workday on Monday, Nov. 30, following Thanksgiving Break, which means students will return on Tuesday, Dec. 1. This will give our hardworking and dedicated team of educators an additional planning day, as authorized by the state to assist teachers during this unprecedented school year.     As we share this week's COVID-19 report for Wasatch County School District, we want to continue to remind students and staff to follow the protocols identified to help prevent the further spread of the coronavirus. That includes:

    *Stay home if you feel sick or have symptoms of COVID-19
    *Follow quarantine guidance if you are exposed to someone with COVID-19
    *Wear a face mask indoors and outdoors anytime you are within 6 feet of anyone from another household; This means you must wear a face mask anytime you are around people you don’t live with (per the governor's Public Health Order from earlier this week)
    *Practice physical distancing as much as possible
    *Wash your hands with soap and water often

    Per the State of Emergency and accompanying executive order issued by Governor Herbert on Sunday, November 8, all Wasatch County School District extracurricular activities, including practices, rehearsals and clubs, will be suspended for two weeks beginning today, through Monday, November 23.     Wasatch County School District received the official report from the Army Corps of Engineers making the final determination on the wetlands delineation, which identified a total of 1.79 acres of wetlands on its 63-acre future school site, located on the west side of Heber.     As you may know, Gov. Gary R. Herbert and State Superintendent Syd Dickson announced yesterday that Utah’s K-12 public schools will extend their dismissal through Friday, May 1. These agencies will continue to evaluate the situation to make a determination about the remaining school year.

    During the dismissal, Wasatch County School District will continue to engage in online, at-home instruction. We commend both staff and parents for their ability to adapt to a new and evolving definition of “school,” and encourage you to continue to support your student’s education throughout the dismissal.
