Here are a few stories we have listened to during library time to practice predicting, inferences, making connections, retelling, story elements, etc.

  • Book Swap Continues with the Little Free Library

Posted by LeAnne Evans on 3/16/2020 12:00:00 PM

There is a Little Free Library (LFL) in our Midway Elementary Garden.  Have you seen it?  It is a light blue, may look like a bird house.  This is a great way to continue with the Literacy Council's Book Swap through March!

The idea is to just leave the books in the Little Free Library and take what is in there.  I will try to keep it stocked with additional books as well.

There are multiple LFL in Midway and a few more in Heber.  Here are additional two LFLs and stay tuned for more as I locate them!

Rebook book store has a red LFL on Main Street the same side of the road as Filler Up.

We are happy to be a part of Steven Rowe's Eagle Scout project. Congratulations, Steven! The Rowe family, including Lucky the dog, came to install our Library on Friday; I have just finished the first coat of paint today, Sunday. ReBOOK is a small recycled bookstore in Midway, UT - 9 yrs old, the only bookstore in our county. Looking forward to keeping our Library stocked with a great selection of free books! We're proud to be part of the Little Free Library worldwide family. Thank

There is another on 50 South Center.

This little free library was a gift to me by my husband after the loss of my mother. She was an avid reader and lifelong learner who inspired me greatly. It is dedicated to her Rose Shirley.

SLJ: Kid Lit Authors Step up to Help

This link to School Library Journal is rather awesome!!  Along with the digital libraries on my Midway Elementary LibraryMedia website wranglers can keep reading, illustrating, and being entertained!

Kid Lit Authors Step Up to Help Educators, Students and Parents

    Copied from Inside the article:

Jarrett J. Krosoczka (top left), creator of the graphic novel Hey Kiddo among other titles.  Every weekday at 2pm ET  (noon UTAH time) for at least the next few weeks, I'll host free webcasts for you and your kiddos. http://youtube.com/studiojjk

Starting March 23, Stimola Literary Studio, representing kid lit and YA authors and illustrators, will host livetreamed readalouds, craft activities, and drawing demonstrations between 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. EST with Matt Tavares, Ellen Hagan, Shannon Stocker, and many others.

Mo Willems, who gave permission for noncommercial use of reading his books, is doing daily doodles at 1 p.m. ET (11:00 AM Utah) through the Kennedy Center, where he is artist-in-residence. It will be a mini drawing workshop, and he promises to show kids a little bit about his studio, too.
