     Mrs. M

Hi! I'm Rachelle Mariteragi but students just call me Mrs. M, and this is going to be my second year teaching here at Timpanogos Middle School. Much to my children's embarassment I end up being their teacher from time to time which is one of the perks of being a teacher. I love to grow flowers and have a bit of an obsession when it comes to incorporating more perennials every year.  I endeavor to have a fairy garden eventually, but it is a work in progress.

I teach three different subject, Digital App Design, Student Leadership and Digital Literacy. In Digital App Design we learn about computer programming using Scratch, code.org and Python.  Students will have the opportunity to create several games and in the process learn the basics of programming. In Student Leadership (6th graders) will be introduced to the Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens.  We will help ease the students transition between Elementary School and Middle School as we talk about the importance of putting first things first, staying organized and utilizing our strengths.  In class we will practice good leadership skills and learn through various activities how to be effective leaders. Digital Literacy (8th graders) is an introduction to the knowledge students will need to be good digital citizens, how to utilize various programs (Microsoft Office Suite) that will help them in their schoolwork and will give students understanding of how our digital world works.  I find that students gain a lot of eye opening information in class that will help them to keep themselves digitally safe now and in the future as they increase their use and reliance on the digital world. Parents, it is a good idea to get signed up as a "Parent Observer" on Canvas. This will allow you to see everything your student does.  It will have lessons, assignments and grades available at all times. Here are some instructions on how to sign up as a Parent Observer on Canvas.
