Degrees and Certifications:
I began my teaching experience 14 years ago as a paraprofessional for special needs children. While in this position, I was asked to develop and teach a character education program for Prairie Crossing Elementary School in Parker, Colorado. I taught this program in grades K - 6 for three years.
During this time, I returned to school and received a master’s degree in Elementary Education and upon graduation received a teaching position. I taught both 2nd and 3rd grade until moving into a strategist position with Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development at the district level. I have been in this position for the past three years and have loved the opportunity to develop curriculum, create and lead professional development, and to coach teachers in grades K through 12 throughout the 91 schools within my district. My undergraduate degree is in Communications from Brigham Young University in Provo.
I have been married for more than 32 years and am the mother of three children, ages 31, 28, and 22. My two oldest children and their spouses have all graduated from Brigham Young University in Idaho and my youngest is currently attending college in Denver, Colorado. I also have two beautiful grandsons named Hayes who is three and Max who is 18 months and we have a granddaughter who is due to be born in December.
I was born and raised in Maine and I lived in Colorado for the last 15 years. My family and I have also lived in Massachusetts, Utah, and Arizona. I love reading, gardening, exercising, and chocolate!
