Degrees and Certifications:
I am excited to begin my second year at Midway! I loved my first year and I am so grateful to be teaching in such an amazing community!
I began teaching 15 years ago as a paraprofessional for special needs children. While in this position, I was asked to develop and teach a character education program for Prairie Crossing Elementary School in Parker, Colorado. I taught this program in grades K - 6 for three years.
During this time, I returned to school and received a master’s degree in Elementary Education and upon graduation received a teaching position. I taught both 2nd and 3rd grades until moving into a strategist position with Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development at the district level. I was in this position for three years and loved the opportunity to develop curriculum, create and lead professional development, and to coach teachers in grades K through 12 throughout the 91 schools within my district. My undergraduate degree is in Communications from Brigham Young University in Provo.
I have been married for more than 33 years and am the mother of three children, ages 32, 28, and 23. My two oldest children and their spouses have all graduated from Brigham Young University in Idaho and my youngest is currently attending college in Denver, Colorado. I also have two grandsons and one darling grandaughter. We are expecting our newest grandson in September!
I was born and raised in Maine and my family and I have lived in Massachusetts, Colorado, Arizona and for the second time, Utah. I love reading, gardening, exercising, and chocolate!
