Wasatch County School District Superintendent Paul Sweat
Superintendent Paul Sweat’s tenure within Wasatch County School District spans more than 25 years. Beginning with his initial assignment as a middle school math teacher, Mr. Sweat has held nearly every instruction and administration position, including principal of Wasatch High School and the Superintendency.
Superintendent Sweat is known for being collaborative and inclusive, believing that strong leaders lead by example, and by creating a shared vision about which everyone within the organization can become excited. As the high school principal, he was an early adopter of the Professional Learning Community model, creating a culture of learning amongst the faculty and students. Superintendent Sweat also led the digital learning initiative, or “Digital Conversion,” for the District, which has resulted in a robust digital learning program offering more individualized education and cutting-edge instructional strategies. This has created higher levels of thinking and deeper levels of understanding for students.
In addition to having been nominated as a member of the National Superintendents Association of the Digital Consortium, he has served on the Utah State Digital Learning Advisory Board. A native of the Heber Valley, Mr. Sweat is a graduate of Brigham Young University, where he received an education degree in 1991. He also holds a Master of Education Degree from the University of Utah.
