    A little about me:

am so excited to be teaching at Timpanogos Middle School. I love science and being able to share such an exciting subject with middle school students. This year I will be teaching 6th and 7th-grade science. I have taught middle school for over 10 years.
I grew up in the mountains of North Carolina and spent my summers on the coast of Virginia. When I graduated from college with a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, I spent several years being a naturalist and lived all over the country. Once I wanted to set down some roots, I went back to school and got my teaching license at the University of North Carolina at Chapple Hill. It was during this time I met my husband. It was always a dream of his to live in Utah, and I have grown to love it. I recently received my Masters of Education from the University of Southern Utah.

When I'm not teaching, I spend my time with my husband and son, hiking, and camping. I've also been known to bake and snowshoe, and I'm learning how to cross country ski. I'm looking forward to meeting all of my new students and exploring the wonders of science with them.

    Courses I teach:

    6th-Grade Science:

6th-grade science introduces students to scientific thinking and processes through reading, writing, and interactive labs. Students will examine the studies of Life, Earth, and Physical science throughout the year. Each unit will have a multiple-choice test and a project which will be part of the final assessment. Students will also become better readers and writers of scientific literature as we learn how to communicate our scientific findings to the class. This will enable students to not only better understand the scientific concepts learned during the year but also be able to apply logical thinking to everyday life.

    7th-Grade Science

7th-grade science continues to build on the scientific concepts learned in 6th grade. We will continue to develop critical thinking and communication skills through reading, writing, and interactive labs.
