Hello I’m Sonya (Miss Sunni) Provost. I feel privileged, honored and excited to be teaching preschool at J.R. Smith Elementary. I have worked in the preschool program for Wasatch County School District at JR Smith Elementary for almost 10 years. I can honestly say I have loved ever minute of my job. There is nothing like spending the day with preschoolers, they are excellent teachers of what is really important in life. They may not meet the height requirement for the roller coaster, but to me they are true giants of character.
I grew up in Utah County on a sheep ranch. Graduated Spanish Fork High School, and continued my education at UVU. I graduated in Early Childhood Development. I am married to Bryan Provost and we are the proud parents of 5 incredible children, and boastful grandparents. I have lived in Wasatch County for over 25 years. My family are ranchers, raising cattle and sheep. I feel blessed to have been able to watch my children grow up in this beautiful valley. It is a perfect place to have raised a small herd of my own children, along side a large herd of cattle and sheep. When I’m not teaching you can find me with my family. We love being together working and playing. My hobbies include cooking, ranching, grandma duties, and being the loudest cheerleader in the stands at every rodeo my children compete in.My love of teaching runs deep, it’s in my blood. There are educators in my family for generations. I hope I can always say I’m a lifelong learner. I will forever look for those special teaching moments with my children, grandchildren and my students. I sincerely believe children are some of adult’s best teachers. These early learners inspire me to be on my toes with a diverse teaching style. I realize every child is gifted they just unwrap their packages at different times. I look forward to the new school year and all the wonderful things we can learn together in preschool.
