Hello! Welcome to Mrs. Dickson's class.

I am so pleased to be teaching here at Wasatch High School, and I am even more excited to get to know each of you. I didn't come to teaching or to the classroom by chance-- I come from a long legacy of educators including my great-grandmother, grandmother, and my mother who taught English for forty-three years. I have a passion for learning. I love to read, think and write.

I grew up in Duchesne, Utah, on the windswept tablelands below the Uintah Mountains. After High School I attended Utah State University and received my bachelor's degree. Each summer during college I traveled to Alaska to see the cerulean sprawl of the Juneau Ice Fields; the raw, jagged teeth of the Coast Mountains near Skagway, AK; up into the heart of Alaska where Denali, the Great One stands; and down to the Kenai Peninsula, all while working for Holland America Line Cruises and Tours. Alaska will always have a piece of my heart.

After graduating cum laude from USU, I attended The George Washington University, Washington, D.C., where I received my master's degree. My husband worked in advertising and marketing in the District of Columbia, and our two boys were born in Arlington, Virginia. When we had the chance to move West we jumped on it. We came to Heber because we loved the beauty of this valley including the clean air, mountain vistas, and outdoor recreation opportunities it affords our family.

I could not be more excited to share my love of language, and lust for learning with you. I know that each of you has a vitally important narrative. I hope that you are ready to read, write, listen, think, speak, and share your story.
