I was born and raised in Northern California (yes, I'm a Giants fan!) until I was 12 and then moved to Reno, Nevada, where I graduated from Reno High School in 1983. I attended Ricks College, went on a 2 year, religious mission to Brazil, and then returned to Ricks College where I met my wife, Laurel (33 years now!) I attended the University of Utah and graduated with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science in 1991. I have 5 children, 2 daughters in law and one granddaughter.
I was always a sports junkie, playing baseball, basketball and track in HS, but later loved volleyball when I played on club teams at Ricks and Utah. I began work as an Exercise Physiologist in Salt Lake City, and did that for 4 years, but then switched gears and became the head volleyball coach at the College of Eastern Utah in Price, Utah from 1995 until 2010. I taught Introduction to Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Sport in Society and activity classes. I took a job as the head coach at Mesa Community College from 2010 to 2014. I received my Master's degree in Education and Instructional Technology in 2013 from Western Governor's University. After our Arizona experience, I accepted a teaching position and head volleyball coach job at Wasatch High School in 2014, which brought me to my "second" home--and my wife's hometown--Heber City, Utah. I have taught Intervention and E-school for the last 7 years here at WHS.
