LITERACY ACTIVITIES
Read Aloud "I Like Myself"
What are some things you like about yourself? What are some things you have learned at school this year that you are proud of?
What am I supposed to learn today?
I can identify the letters "Ll" and "Cc" and the say the sounds they make.
Why am I learning this?
Identifying letter names and sounds will give me the skills I need to learn how to sound out words and learn to read.
At the end of this lesson I should be able to:
Identify the letter names and sounds of the uppercase and lowercase "Ll" and "Cc."
I will know I have learned to identify the letter names and sounds when:I see the letter "Ll" and the letter "Cc" and can correctly state their names and sounds.
Literacy Lesson: Review Letter "Ll" and Letter "Cc"
1. Here are a couple of ways to review the name, sounds, and letter formations of the letters "Ll" and "Cc."
Click the link below for instructions on how to play a fun letter review game called "Outdoor Bean Bag Review Toss."
I can use objects to count and add and subtract to determine "how many."
Why am I learning this?
Counting and adding or subtracting groups will help me to learn simple addition and subtraction and I will be able to add or subtract numbers when I go to kindergarten.
At the end of this lesson I should be able to:
Count two small groups of objects and then add them together or take some away to determine "how many."
I will know I have learned to count and add or subtract two small groups when:I am given two small groups of objects and I correctly count and add or subtract them and correctly state "how many."
Math Lesson: Ready, Set, Subitize This!
Subitizing is probably an unfamiliar word to you. But, it’s a very important math skill for preschoolers. It means the ability to instantly recognize how many objects are in a group.
Click on the link and try the following subitizing game with your child. Your child has played this game many times in the classroom and at home, so they may recognize it.
