The following resources are visual and sequential tools for helping your child request, make a choice, follow directions and navigate their day. Each icon can be arranged in a specific order to teach your child the steps associated with each activity. Feel free to adjust the steps to what is best for your family. The program is most effective when the icons are printed and cut out. Please let me know if I can help with either of these.
Research shows that adding a visual representation to a verbal cue can be very helpful in eliminating behaviors, increasing communication and decreasing confusion/frustation. On a daily basis, I use similar icons in my classroom. I find them essential in assisting the students with various parts of our day. I hope you find them useful/helpful as well.
