•  Dear Parents,

We as kindergarten teachers are asking that you spend about an hour of literacy and about an hour of math each day. We will provide these hours of instruction each day on this website.

I am updating my website to add in a few things that are specific to our classroom. It might be easiest to come here each day instead of the grade level website. Things that I add will most likely fall under the "More Fun Things" area and some will be ways students can earn STARS at home!

Here you will also find some other learning activities your child can do from home! These are things that were part of their normal routine already and they might enjoy seeing some friendly faces from school.

On Wednesdays we talk about Selfless Courage. Last week we read the book Courage by Bernard Waber. Here is a link to listen to it again.

In the book it says, "Courage is what we give to each other." Here is how Mrs. Knight is showing courage today. Selfless Courage is doing something for someone else. How can you have Selfless Courage and give it to others?

On Thursdays we talk about Invincible Grit. Invincible Grit is not giving up when something is hard, frustrating, feels impossible. Can you have invincible grit this week?

In the link I talked about students earning a star at home! (I think in the video I said you would write stars down... I meant tallies, sorry)

    Super Improver at home \

The whole family can play or you can do it just with your child. You choose! Every time someone hears another person say "Please" the person who heard can give the polite family member a tally mark. We just use Post-it notes stuck to the fridge. Record how many "pleases" you child uses today. Tomorrow get a new one and start fresh. See if they can beat the previous day. Saturday try again, new paper. Sunday play the Please Game again, new paper. Keep playing!

Your child will earn a star when they beat their old record 3x!

Example: Today Chloe earned 8 tallies (pleases). Tomorrow she beat her score and had 10 tallies. Saturday she beat her score AGAIN she had 11 tallies. Sunday she only had 8 so she didn't beat her score. But then Monday she had 14 tallies. She has now beat herself 3x and has earned a super improver star! Email Mrs. Knight and I will add a star to your child's Super Improver card and email you a picture of their card!

    • Here's a little tid bit of info for you parents to keep in your back pocket
      • Yes, we practice this rule A LOT in school and I think you should at home too!
      • Have them tell you EVERYDAY. Then start tying it in when they are not making smart choices at home.
      • Example- "Was that showing glorious kindness when you took that toy from your brother? How could you have made a smart choice?" (Ask if you could have it, please?

Friday is Brainy Creativity. Build or make something Creative today and show it off to your family or post a picture in our GroupMe.
