U.S. Government & Citizenship DS is designed for students receiving special education services. The vision for this class is to provide ithe required IEP accommodations in a smaller, less restrictive envrionment.
The primary goal with the class is to teach students the importance of participating in local, state, and federal government. Change in America is only acheived by citizens who are involved and willing to take action. To help teach this students are asked to take part in government meetings as well as writing letters to the editor or public officials. Also during class we will be discussing issues that may be controversial. Please be involved with your students and be willing to share your own political opinions with them. This is a great opportunity to connect with your student and be apart of their learning.
Course schedules and course disclosure can be accessed by clicking the links. Students are also required by state law to take and pass the U.S. Civics Examination in order to qualify for graduation. Study materials and practice quizzes are available by enrolling in the Canvas course link. Students will have multiple opportunities to retake the test if needed.
