Frequently Asked Questions

    • I want to take all of my classes online.  Can I do that through WHS?
      • No, WHS eSchool is not designed to be a stand-alone online school, so students taking more than 2 courses online typicaly struggle to succeed.  (Occasionally a student will do ok with 3-4 courses online, but that is the exception. )
      • If you prefer to take all of your classes online, we recommend you take your classes through a specific online high school, such as Utah Virtual Academy, or the likes thereof.
      • ** In exceptional cases, we will temporarily set a student up with a full online schedule.  Please contact your counselor and Jackie Pedersen to discuss this temporary option.
    • What classes are available online through WHS?
      • We have all core classes, some foreign language, and many electives available.  Please visit the Course Catalog link and browse the courses that are available.
** Please Note:  Not all courses in the catalogs are automatically offered through WHS.  Some courses, such as AP or Honors courses, are only available through special arrangement.  Other courses, like specialized electives that require additional purchases or software, are only available if a student wants to pay the additional fees to take them, or if the student is willing to work completely from home where the proper software can be downloaded.      Check with Mrs. Pedersen to find out more.
    • Can I take classes on my own time?
      • Yes, you can take classes on your own time through our Independent Plan.  Independent Plan students pay $20 per quarter credit.  See more here.
    • Can I take classes during the school day at WHS?
      • Yes!  You can take classes during the school day at WHS through our Integrated Plan.  Integrated Plan students do not pay the $20 course fee, but are held to regular WHS term deadlines.  See more here.
    • Can I work at my own pace?
      • No matter what plan you are on, you can ALWAYS work ahead, moving faster than your course deadline.  If you are on an Integrated Plan, which means you have "eSchool" or "eSchool CAMPUS" on your schedule, you must earn one quarter credit for every period that says "eSchool" or "eSchool CAMPUS" in your WHS schedule.
      • So, if you have 1 period in your WHS schedule that says "eSchool"/"eSchool CAMPUS", you are expected to earn one quarter credit by the close of grades that term.   If you have 3 periods in your WHS schedule that say "eSchool"/"eSchool CAMPUS", you are expected to earn three quarter credits by the close of grades that term.
      • Any unfinished work by the close of grades is considered missing work and will receive a score of zero and be averaged into your grade for the term.
    •  How many credits do I need to earn each term?
      • # of periods in your schedule that say eSchool = # of quarter-credits you are accountable for and expected to earn in that term, by the end of term/close of grades.
    • Why don't I see my grades on SIS?
      • eSchool grades are not managed through SIS, so your eSchool grades will go straight to your transcript each term.
    • I'm taking P.E. online.  Do I just have to work out?
      • All of our online PE credit requires coursework to be completed.  You will not earn credit for physical activity alone.  Your PE credit is a combination of physical activity logged, and online coursework completed.   If you're not sure what this means, get in touch with me and I'll help you.
