Hello and Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please let me know by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I can schedule appointments to meet with you on zoom, in person, or over the phone. I want to help your student all that I can. More than anything, I want them to feel successful.
I'm available to give your student extra help on anything Monday - Friday in the morning and after school.
Due to allergies within the class, this is a gluten free classroom. Students can bring gluten free, healthy snacks (if needed). Students will need to bring a water bottle to fill for water during class. Students need to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth throughout the school day.
Homework is 20 minutes of reading (5 of those minutes out loud) and 15 minutes of math facts and finish any work that is incomplete at the end of the school day. Absent students are responsible to complete any missed work. All assignments are available in Otus lessons. Students are able to zoom into the class at 9:00 on Mondays or 9:30 on Tuesday through Friday to take part in the math lesson. ELA lessons will be available on zoom at 11:30. Science will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 2:30 on Zoom.
Report cards now include our new grading system. Remember it is a 1-4. Some of the items on the report card, your student will be lower because we just started that subject and it will be revisited again later in the school year.
Students are making great progress. We have 1 more science project before the end of the school year. We are working on multiplying and dividing decimals in math. Soon we will be doing metric conversions and U.S. Measurement, polygons, and coordinate grids. Students need to keep reading a lot at home, especially during spring break.
Parent's if you would like to donate supplies for the classroom, here is a list of some needed items: Hand Sanitizer, Kleenex, and Lysol/Clorox Wipes...Kleenex and Wipes are even more important when cold, flu, and covid are upon us. Other class supplies we also need colored pencils, 6" rulers, pencil boxes, #2 sharpened pencils, small student pencil sharpener with collection bin, and Kleenex (yes, I know I put that on twice. We always need more kleenex).
Notice: The items on this list will be used during the regular school day. They may be brought from home on a voluntary basis; otherwise, they will be furnished by the school.
