My name is Brenda Mena and I'm extremely excited to start my eighth year at the best high school in Utah, Wasatch High School. I'm so glad you have decided to take Spanish classes. Learning a second language or working on your Spanish if you already speak it, is going to be one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. So, welcome, get ready to work hard, because learning a second language is hard but I promise you, it will be worth it.
A little about myself, I love Spanish, I love teaching Spanish, I'm very passionate about teaching about it's beautiful people and it's culture. I studied Spanish at Brigham Young University. I was born and raised in San Juan Puerto Rico. Even though Utah has been my home for the last 32 years, I love Puerto Rico and take a group of our students there every year to explore the island, speak the language and engage in the culture; all this to prepare for the Spanish AP test. I have four children, all living in Utah, two of which are Wasatch High School graduates. I like to travel, garden and restore old houses.
This year I will teach the following courses: Spanish 3, Spanish 4, Spanish for Spanish Speakers 2 honors, AP Spanish Language and Culture, Spanish 5 Honors Dual Immersion, AP Spanish Literature and Culture and last but not least Latinos in Action.
