WCSD Presents at Future of Education Technology Conference
This week, Superintendent Sweat, Elementary Education Director Eric Campbell, Instructional Coaches Amanda Porter and Jamie Hagan, District Literacy Specialist Lana Wright, Assessment Director Brett Zabel and District Math Specialist Jodi Mantilla are presenting at the Future of Education Technology (FETC) conference in Orlando.
Their first presentation, “Taking Your 1:1 Initiative to the Next Level,” focused on the District’s seven-year journey to digitally transform teaching and learning, sharing with participants the four pillars (coaching, curriculum, classroom, and device) along with how major players around the table (school boards, IT, leadership, and instructional coaches) made this shift to digital a reality.
For the second session, “Everyone Needs A Coach: The Method to Improve Student Achievement” the team demonstrated the ways instructional coaches turn the vision of leadership into instructional practice in classrooms. This session highlights the fact that the WCSD Board of Education funded and placed instructional coaches in every building districtwide to fundamentally change teaching practices.
