High school wrestling: Wasatch dominates 5A meet, claims 22nd title in school history
Following a runner-up finish at last year’s 5A state tournament, Wasatch showed depth and dominance at this week’s state meet at Utah Valley University, easily outdistancing itself from the 5A field to claim the state title.

Zak Kohler Wins Fourth Consecutive State Wresting Title
“I can’t even put it into words on what it feels like to be able to say I'm a four-time state champ,” Kohler said moments after his win. “I’ve been dreaming of this since I was in fifth grade. It really leaves me speechless.”

Wasatch High School Student Named as Senate Visual Arts Scholarship Competition Finalist
Wasatch High School student, Austin Moody, has been selected as a finalist for the 2019 Senate Visual Arts Scholarship Competition. Austin’s artwork, “Bonneville Salt Flats,” was one of just 21 pieces selected from 184 entries. He will receive his award from his representative on the floor of the Senate Chamber on Thursday morning, Feb. 21. Senate President, Stuart Adams, will reveal each student's placement during the awards ceremony (unless his office chooses to notify the students earlier).

Wasatch girls edges Timpview in dramatic finish to win 5A state girls swimming title
“We knew we were in it going in,” Wasp head coach Shawn Marsing said. “The girls put themselves in great position in the preliminaries to make it happen. They’ve done everything we’ve asked. When you win by two points, that takes the entire team.” Click the photo at left for the whole story.

School Board Members Holmes, Bluth Sworn In
On Thursday, Jan. 24, Wasatch County School District Board of Education members Cory Holmes and Tyler Bluth were sworn in at the beginning of the regularly-scheduled monthly board meeting. Mr. Holmes was appointed to the board to fill a vacancy in Oct. 2017, and was elected to the position in November of 2018. He represents the Heber North District. Mr. Bluth is new to the Board, and replaces former Board President Ann Horner, who retired in December 2018 after serving for 16 years. He represents the Heber South District.
