As we head into the first days of the school year, you may have noticed that 600 South is still under construction. Unfortunately, it will not be fully completed until approximately mid-September. With that information, it is important that you know what the plan is to safely have your students walk to school.
The sidewalk on the North side of 600 south (that is the side Dickies Restaurant is located) will have the side walk open. The South side is currently under construction and will not be open for pedestrian traffic. We will have a crossing guard to ensure our students can get across the street at 200 East as always. It is imperative that you tell your children that they must use the sidewalk on the north side of 600 South. We will also instruct our students about this as well.
We appreciate your patience as the construction finishes up. When it is completed the road will be wider and we will be able to enjoy the work that has been done.
As you bring your student to school for the next few weeks please give yourself extra time when you travel to TIS in the mornings and after school. Construction can always add stress, please be patient. The safety of our students is of the utmost importance. We have asked for a greater police presence on 600 South as school starts to help us remember to keep our speed down and think first and foremost of our students safety.
I will try to keep you informed as school begins. The city has told us that they will have information on their website about the possible closures during non-school drop off and pick up times. We will link to that on our website as soon as possible.
We love your kids and look forward to a great year. Thank you for being such great parents.
