    Ms. Sunni

Hello I’m Sonya (Miss Sunni) Provost. I’m feel honored and privileged to teach preschool at J.R. Smith Elementary. I have worked in the preschool program for Wasatch County School District for over 10 years and have loved every minute of it. There is nothing equal to the experience of spending the day with preschoolers, they are excellent teachers of what is truly important. They may not meet the height requirements for the roller-coaster, but in my eyes they are true giants of character.

I grew up in Utah County on a sheep ranch. Graduated Spanish Fork High School, and continued my education at UVU in their Early Childhood Development Program. I married Bryan Provost and we are the proud parents of 5 amazing children, and boastful grandparents of 2 beautiful granddaughters. I have lived in Wasatch County for almost 30 years. My family are ranchers, raising cattle and sheep. I feel blessed to have been able to watch my children grow up in this beautiful valley. It is a perfect place to have raised a small herd of my own children, alongside a large herd of cattle and sheep. When I’m not teaching you can find me with my family. We love being together working and playing. My hobbies include, cooking ranching, grandma duties and being the loudest cheerleader in the stands at every rodeo my children compete in.

My love of teaching runs deep, you could say it’s in my blood. There are educators in my family for generations. I like to consider myself a lifelong learner. I’m committed to my students and their families. This commitment drives me to be continually striving to be better for everyone, my students, parents, co-workers, coaches, supervisors, and my community. It is my goal to have a program that only gets better. I believe in a hands on approach to teaching is best practice for young children. It allows exploration of the world around them. It is my job to create the most enriching environment for my students and their levels of learning. I believe everyone is different, and the things that make us different make us special. These early learners inspire me. I will forever be searching for those teaching moments to share with my students. I sincerely believe children are some of adult’s best teachers. I cherish the opportunity I have to guide these little learners.
