Hi,  Here is some information about me, so you know who you child is spending time with!  I graduated from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy and a minor in Psychology.  I came to Utah for the National Ability Center (NAC) where I was employed as a nationally certified therapeutic recreation specialist (C.T.R.S.). As a C.T.R.S, I taught swimming, horseback riding, skiing and many other sports to people with disabilities. I also had the opportunity to work closely with the Paralympics/ International Paralympics and promote adaptive recreation internationally. During my time with NAC, I earned my masters degree at the University of Utah in Special Education with an endorsement in severe disabilities. When I switched to teaching, I felt strongly (and still do) that combining academic/life skills/functional skills/recreation into the classroom setting would be most beneficial for the students. I believe in a holistic view of teaching and embracing each student's individual needs. I also believe that you learn best while having fun! For the past ten years, I have organized Wasatch's four elementary schools for swimming in the fall /spring, skiing and horseback riding in the winter and attending the Nutcracker performance through Balletwest. In addition, I have also been working with Intermountain Animal Assisted Therapy and hosting dog therapy in my classroom for the past six years. I also started and coached a Special Olympics bowling team but sadly, Special Olympics cancelled it statewide. I have been teaching Special Education at Old Mill Elementary for 10 years and can truly say that I love what I do! I am constantly amazed at what the students accomplish and what I learn from them every year!

On a personal side, my other interests include playing with my family. My husband and I have three amazing children. The joke is that I am "solar powered", I love and need to be outside, in particular with my children. Visiting my family, reading, traveling and beach fun are also high on my priority list. My contact information is below, please contact me with any questions/comments.  I look forward to working with you and creating a great school environment for your child!
